Pointers to better places than this to learn about letterpress printing.

[NOT DONE] Very brief overviews and historical surveys of the many processs involved in relief printing from metal typographical surfaces (that is, letterpress printing and related technologies).

Introduction II - Surveys of the Equipment

[NOT BACK ONLINE YET] This is a more comprehensive but still fairly superficial look at the tools and machines involved, without getting into more detailed topics such as how to rebuild it or how to use it.

Typographical Instruction

[NOT DONE] Books and instructional material on the use of type (when primarily visual in their focus; when primarily practical, see Use: Type Machinery Operation). [NOTE: later crosslink to material on lettering, signwriting, show card writingm, etc.] My emphasis here will be on 19th century and actual 20th century practice (which has been erased from the contemporary narrative of the history of design).
