This is a scotch yoke style jig saw sold by Sears under the Craftsman name as their parts no. 103.0403 and 103.0404. It was made by Emerson, who date it to "appx. 1940 or before."
There's an unusual historical tidbit associated with this saw. The painter Maxfield Parrish, quite famous in his day, was also an amateur machinist. In photographs of his workshop, this model saw is clearly visible.
