? - ? Founded 1887 as Thormod Monsen & Son, jobbing printers. Chicago.

The Gordon L. Monsen Design Papers are at the University of Illinois at Chicago; some of the history above is taken from their website for this collection of papers.

Rich Hopkins, in "Studying the Bulmer Design," American Typecasting Fellowship Newsletter, No. 34 (May, 2010): 17 confirms that Monsen did in fact make matrices (he has some).
